Anyone know any good places In Southern California near the beach to hang out and write? Coffee shops with good atmosphere/views would be ideal.

Southern California covers a lot of area and coast line. One of my favorite places is Main Beach area in Laguna Beach. Plenty of places to eat/coffee/read/write and fantastic views. Just a tad north of that is the park near Los Brisas restaurant. Even better views. Corona Del Mar has a nice bluff park overlooking the ocean and channel into Newport Beach. Huntington Beach and Seal Beach pier areas. Nature center at Palos Verdes has a park next door with tables and ocean view (Lighthouse is next door) and is one of my favorite picnic and reading/writing spots. Think whale watching in season and people watching year round. If you want a very Southern spot, try Point Loma in San Diego. Nice lighthouse and visitor center with forever views. So many places, so little time. /Craig

Mission Bay in San Diego.
In the park for free breeze and views. In one of the hotel cafes for coffee and snacks.
