Does anyone have instructions for the old style? Also, what is the purpose of the bottom half?
How is it different from the new style?
Thanks,
Nick

If I recall correctly, the old style had a threaded opening that was designed only to accommodate certain pens. You had to specify which pen when you bought the inkpot. Not there's a rubber seal that allows all kinds of different pens to fit. I have several of the newer inkpots, and find them very useful for filling all kinds of pens, especially pump, vac, and lever fillers.

I really didn't know there was an
old style. I thought it was only a matter of design.
You can find instructions for the new style
here.

I am holding the instruction sheet from my '96 traveling ink pot. There is a reference list with 7 different models. I have number 528 which fits MB 149, MB Hemingway and other pens of that size.
If you need more help let me know

There is a tag on the outside of the Visconti box that says 505. I wondered what that meant since I knew it could not be the price!!!
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Nick,
I just checked the sheet. There is no model with the number 505. The numbers are: 525 up to 531
There is a gold color round sticker on the bottom of the ink pot itself and there it states the model number and a couple of examples of pens it fits.
Check there, perhaps you find something else
I took a lousy photo of the reference table so you can see it all

I agree with Doug. All of the ones that I currently have are friction fit and work the same way although the exterior designs are different. It was/is my understanding that early on some were made that were treaded to fit specific pens. I never actually used one of these but that was my understanding.

Here are some instructions from 1997 (for the non-threaded inkpot):
