Full Version: I am starting to really like this pen

As mentioned before, I purchased a CL300... approximately 1964 VP..... after finally getting the converter and getting all the old dried ink out of the nib assembly the pen is writing beautifully...
I filled the pen with Noodlers RedBlack and it writes about 7/10 and dries quick on my Rhodia pads....

My first modern fountain pen was a modern VP with a medium nib and I also bought a .7mm Binder stud for it.... it wrote well also..
But I just could not get comfortable with the pen and eventually sold it to another FPN member who loved it.....

BUT, this older VP with the different clip set up and thinner front end is a dream. It sits on my desk today with my normal everyday Parker 51 and I find my self grabbing it as much as my 51.....

This is a very cool and comfortable pen.... but it still ain't gonna replace my 51s... rolleyes.gif

Yes, I love my 1998 (currently being repaired) and though it's not identical to yours, it's a lot closer to yours than to a modern VP. I agree about the slimness, the clip and, of course, the lack of weight.

Best,

Ralf

Congrats on getting the pen to work, Tom! Ah, so the Rapido-eze worked then for you? Or was there some other method that you used?
