Ink it and use it! It will give you a reason to carry that bad boy around in your pocket all the time! I love mine, got it Christmas before last.

I got one a few months ago and it had ink in it within ten minutes of coming out of the box. I use it all the time and enjoy it all the more when I do.

Excellent (that you're filling it)! Let us know how it writes and how much you love it!

And thank you, Felix, for the compliment!

Gosh, ANM, where do you get your patience?

Me, it's like one continuous movement: open box, remove pen, ink it, then look at it.

Congrats bunny01.gif it's one of the best looking pens I've seen. I ink mine red too!

Only ink it under the following condition:

You will write with it.

Otherwise, yknow, they dry up and clog.

Seriously though, you should refrain from inking it only so long as it builds up the experience when you do it. A little bit of anticipation is a good thing. But that pen ain't no museum piece: it was made to be written with. Allow it to fulfill its destiny. You'll both be happier for it.

My Grand Place is currently in my rotation with a super smooth (if rather fat) Fine nib and Diamine Mediterranean blue. One of my favorite writers and definitely worthy of inking.

Enjoy!

ink it and enjoy

It is a great looking pen

To quote Amy Winehouse, "What kind of f***ery is this?"

Ink it.

ooo, red. I'd never thought of that in my Grand Place. I typically fill it with a luscious brown or a turquoise-y blue to match the swirls. My Grand Place is one of my favorite pens, use it every day. Ink it, definitely.

Love the Amy Winehouse quote.

Ink it up reallllllll good but don't write with it. Put it in the microwave - set for 30 minutes and watch all the pretty colors... and the fireworks from the nib and other metallic parts!

That's real pen enjoyment!

The only pens I will not ink are pristine vintage pens which have never been inked. Sure, your pen will be vintage at some point in the future but if you're not a collector of pristine pens wanting to display them as such then go for it. My favorite pens are the ones inked the most. wink.gif

INK IT!!!

As said above, [ink it] ^3.

If you don't, you should not have bought the darn thing in the first place .
If I ever buy onev and don't ink it, I don't like it and, thus, it is by no means a favourite of mine.
Of course if you find one on the street or inheit one -- and never did like that thing -- well then sell it immediately. You might find some (uh uh) who prefers to buy an uninked pen.

Ink it.

My favorite in the series is the Athens. The first thing I did when it arrived was to put some Waterman Florida Blue in it.

If you don't ink it, it will be just a piece of plasic with a bit of gold sticking from it.

Only when you ink it and use it, it becomes a pen.

The first inking and writing of a new pen is a very special occasion.
You should take your time for it.
I suggest a fine glass of Glen Rothes to go with the ritual.

I got one, love it, and it's inked. I can understand the desire to preserve it and keep it pristine -- it is a gorgeous pen. You could always ink it, leave it at home and reserve its use for some special purpose. That's kinda splitting the dif in half -- keep wear and tear to a minimum, yet be able to use and enjoy it. Mine is one of my best writers and I enjoy writing with it more than looking at it even though it's a looker.

I don't think that the Grand Place is a collector's item. Besides, a large part of the enjoyment that you will get from the pen will be when you pick it up, marvel at its beauty, uncap it, marvel at its beauty, begin writing, marvel at the beauty of the nib experience, recap it, marvel at its beauty . . . you get the idea, INK IT, and enjoy the full experience.
Zarble44
INK IT!
It's also my favorite pen. Once you start writing with it, you'll appreciate how the color swirls change and catch the light. It's gorgeous in action.

As a bit of a side question- does this, or the other M620s, have any translucency? Or are they solid acrylic/celluloid acetate? Hard to tell those sorta things in photos online. smile.gif
KCat
not the grand place. the piazza navona, yes. those are the only 2 I'm sure about. I've tried with a very bright light to penetrate the GP. No luck.
Usui
post pics of it with ink on the nib!
