Just dropping a small introductory note. I am a 21yr old Uni student from Brisbane, Australia. I have just recently started using a fountain pen(s) and have enjoyed the experience enough to stop using my laptop for note-taking in lectures. I have been lurking and decided to sign up as I think this is a wonderful source of FP news and information.
Over the last 6 months I have acquired 8 fountain pens, Parker 45, 95(?), Reflex, Jotter, Inflection, and Rialto and a Waterman Harmonie.
And my thanks to all who contribute to this forum

Welcome to "our gang." It's a pleasure to have folk join us, ask interesting questions, and share interesting insights into their FP's and their lives.
All good wishes,

Hi and welcome to the club! Whereabouts in Brisbane are you? I spent about 4 months at Bond University in Gold Coast, Australia, back in January 2004. It's so gorgeous down there.

Well, Brisbane does have that "artificial beach" going for it...which I actually did like. Okay, now you're making me miss Australia because it was 2 years ago this month that I was there. So how about you tell us how you got into fountain pens and then I won't be distracted by thoughts of summer? [stuck in cold old Pennsylvania, USA myself right now]

I got into fountain pen's when i noticed that my handwriting had deteriorated badly after doing an exam so I decided to start using a pen again. I used a Parker Jotter ball point for a day or two when I stumbled across a Jotter FP I had been sent by Grandparent's in Ireland, 7 years ago(for my birthday). So I decided to give it a go and enjoyed it so I bought another fountain pen, which I think is a Parker 95. I enjoyed both those pens enough to buy a few more and decide to use a fountain pen where possible. I have also converted my brother to using a fountain pen and have restarted my mother on using her 20-25 year old Parker 45

Greetings from one newbie to another! Glad you found us and hope you'll visit as often as possible. I didn't discover FPs until just before finishing school unfortunately, but it did make taking notes much more fun.

Welcome, I'm sure you'll enoy the FPN family.
Looking forward to your posts.
Only visited Australia once - Sydney and Canberra areas, but loved all I saw, even though it was almost Winter. Heh, occasionally had to put on a sweater

. Not much like a Canadian winter (he says looking out over a couple of feet of snow in the yard).
Best regards
Gerry

All this talk about Australia has resulted in that "I come from the land down under" song looping through my head.
Unfortunately, I was never able to acquire a taste for Vegemite
