Full Version: Need some price advice. Waterman Olive Ripple 52v
The Fountain Pen Network > Brand Focus > The Waterman Forum
POE
I haven't held it yet, but I've been offered a Waterman 52v in Olive Ripple Hard Rubber. The #2 nib is very flexible. The imprint is still deep and looks very good. No discoloration or fading. No brassing anywhere. There are a couple of (3) very tiny flea bites on the barrel. What is a fair price for this pen. I'm told it's in very good plus condition.

Thanks

Pete's Pen Shop (no affiliation) has a Waterman 52v Olive Ripple for $245.00. They also have a Waterman 52v Red and Black Ripple for $145.00. I know that the Olive Ripple is more rare in the wild than the Red and Black, but $245.00 seems quite high to me. Obviously, the best price you can negotiate for this pen would be ideal, but I doubt (if the seller knows his/her business) that you would be able to get the pen below $150.00.

He's asking $200 for it. I know 'regular' ripples in this condition sell in the $125-150.00 range. I was unsure of the Olive cachet. $200 sounds fair. I need to think about this one, $200 is a lot of money for me, but I really really like the color and the writing sample looks very nice. Hmmm. Decisions decisions.

I paid a little more for my 52v Olive Ripple. I have over 100 pens, and if I had to chose only one out of the the Parkers, Sheaffers, Pelikans, etc., The 52V Olive Ripple would be the one. But....if you are going to break the bank for it, try to mix in a pen or 2 in trade to bring the price down. You migh have something you don't want that this guy doers. I've traded all my watches to pen dealers for FPs. ... just a thought.

You can see mine below between the Waterman's 12 eyedropper (an eye-popper as well) and one of my other very favorites, a two tone 52 1/2 v
