I have just bought a Parker Lady and I am soooooooooooo excited! eureka.gif This can't be normal. Anyway, I can't tell you anything about it cos it's a state secret  No okay, the truth is, I don't know anything about it, mainly because I aint not got it yet cos it has to be posted. All I know is it's old, it looks nice, no idea what kind of filling system, don't even know if it works. I know, I am gifted at weighing everything up before I buy. The absolute clincher was...<wait for it>... ITS RED!!!

Now I'm willing to bet it's a pile of something whiffy but heck, it only cost me 4 quid so does it matter? Humour me, it's a very cheap way of making me smile biggrin.gif
Carrie
I paid £6 for one of my Parker Ladys and the other came out of a skip:) Both write very nicely.

Like the one on the left, maybe?

Hooded nib, Aerometric filler - in other words a kind of baby "51"!

I like the Baby "51" comment biggrin.gif If it's not too stupid a question, was the Parker Lady done in anything other than that burgundy red colour? Both of mine are that colour and I've never seen any other colour on sale. They're tough little pens which stand up well to use at work.
peachez
Yes Martin, looks a lot like that one, except yours seems to be a lot nicer and shinier than the one I just bought. I'm hoping that with a little help from folks here, I might be able to get it looking prettier...
peachez
Carrie, I'm pretty sure I've seen a pink one somewhere...not a vivid pink - sort of baby pink. Didn't like it. If I can find it, I'll post it...

We had a blue one recently and I'm sure I've also seen them in green. I guess that black was also an option as well.

Must be a UK thing because I have never run across one here in the wilds of the colonies...

Hello peachez!

How are you doing? Well, I have bought a few pens myself (and unfortunately, this activity hasn't stopped yet) and for every pen I buy, I still get excited in the same way for each pen. You must know by now that here, this sort of insane behaviour is the norm. laugh.gif In the land of nutters, the one nut person is crazy. blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif  laugh.gif

With this Parker Lady of yours, it sounds as if you're going on a blind date. eureka.gif That's veeeerrry exciting, no? The anticipation, the thrill, the excitement, it's all there!! OK, so you know what it looks like, but how will it feel in your hand? How good do you look together? Will people say "Oooooohh, it's peachez and her Parker Lady!" or will they say "What is peachez doing holding on to that pen??" Is it going to give that oft-mentioned spark when you immediately hold it or is it going to slowly take its time and subtly grab you as if from nowhere?
(Now, how nuts do you think I am???!! blink.gif  laugh.gif )

Well G, this wasn't supposed to happen. I wasn't supposed to turn into a pen geek. I mean, I only popped in here cos I found a pen in my attic and now I've been hooked

I am unreasonably excited about the prospect of this pen showing up. I don't even mind if it's broken - will be a challenge to get it unbroken. And if at the end of the day, having got it writing well and getting it to look pretty, if it doesn't suit my childish scrawl, there's no harm done. Four quid for this much excitement? Good grief I'm cheap to run.

So yup, you is nuts, seems most folk in here are. Was obviously fate I stumbled in here. wink.gif

Hi Bill,

They are good pens, but the only ones I have seen have been in black, and UK made in Newhaven. They are an aerometric filler, bit more like a 21/61 ish but all from the original "51" idea.

Bit small for my hand, bit like a "51" demi size, but all to the good. They can suffer from cracking to the caps I believe and I fixed one up that had that problem. Ladies like them as a handbag pen.

As long as the one that Peachezn gets is intact, it may want no more than a good flush to get it back working perfectly.

twdpens - in your picture, what is the pen second from the left? I've got two of those at home - one in green and one in red. The green one was my very first fountain pen, my parents bought it for me when I started at Grammar School, back in 1971, and I've still got it (amongst others). The red one was my brother's, but I have absolutely no idea what they are!

Many thanks
twdpens
Second from left is a Slimfold. Next to that a Junior (or Victory MkV).

Martin

Thank you smile.gif, they are slimfolds then, I have always wondered what model they are smile.gif
