Hi all,
I was wondering if the Pear Tree Pen company has a real storefront. I will be in ann arbor, and I was wondering if it would be possible to stop by. I tried calling them, but got the message machine. The address they lists appears to be in a warehouse district based on the satellite picture on google maps.

They don't have a storefront, and I know James does a fair amount of traveling.

For many of us geeks, email is probably the fastest way to get a response.

The Pear Tree Pen Company does not have a traditional retail store front. However, we do have a very modest showroom and we are always happy to receive visitors who want to stop by to try out a pen or ink, or just to chat.

Because our hours are somewhat irregular (especially lately), my suggestion is to call and make an appointment so someone (hopefully me!) can be there to greet you when you arrive.

Thanks for posting and we look forward to your visit to Ann Arbor. While you're here don't forget to stop at Zingerman's for some awesome deli!

I stopped by yesterday on the way to the Detroit airport after getting my daughter set for another year of college. It's always a fun visit and its always worth spending a little cash. James' shop is well worth the visit if you can find a mutually convenient time.

James, if you're gonna send folks to Zingerman's for deli, then you also have to send them across the street to Sweetwaters for coffee. Get the whole Ann Arbor experience.

You're right, I should have mentioned Sweetwaters, and the whole Kerrytown market, in fact.

Another important thing I forget to mention: If you go to Zingerman's bring a lot of dough. Some of their menu items cost more than a lot of pens I carry - and don't last as long. tongue.gif

Hey Philip- let me know when you are goingto be in Ann Arbor. maybe I can meet youand give you a U-M Orientation ( I used to be an Orientation Tour leader when I was an undergrad) smile.gif

I'm guessing Bimbo's must have gone out of business a long time ago, and the barbershop quartet found a better venue.

Hollander's is also in Ann Arbor. I'm making a much-anticipated trip there with my friends when I'm in Michigan this weekend. One of these days I hope to have a chance to visit Pear Tree Pens, too. That would be a great weekend... fountain pens and fine paper.

Last week I visited the Pear Tree Pens tiny "warehouse" location and had a blast!

I got in touch via their customer service email, service@peartreepens.com. The staff person (Gretchen) couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. I spent at least an hour trying out inks (and left with six bottles, which probably made it worth PTP's while, too).

So, thanks to everyone at PTP!

If you're in Ann Arbor, it's definitely worth a visit.
