Full Version: 1950s Silver Platinum on Yahoo Japan

Pen was hammered down this morning for Y31,500 by someone overseas (probablty in America) via shoppingmalljapan.com. Total is about $350.
I've seen several of these with different clips and very slight differences in the design. My guess is they are hand carved silver.
This one has a deep ding in the barrel end and is well-used. There might be some deterioration on the section too. Price seems a bit high by my reckoning.

Today several pens were bought though shoppingmalljapan. You can tell by the handle: chaosjapan. It seems more and more are bypassing eBay and doing their shopping at the source.

Do any of youhave experiences with Yahoo Japan?

It's nice looking but I would love to see what it looks like polished-up. The section does seem to have some kind of pitting.

I have purchased a few pens on Yahoo via a friend in Tokyo. It is certainly more cost-effective than eBay but it would be nice if I could buy direct from outside Japan. There was a news item about Yahoo getting more friendly with eBay so that Yahoo.jp auctions would be accessible outside Japan. I wonder what happened to that?

Thanks for sharing Stan.

I also took a look around a few websites that will buy for you from Yahoo Japan, and they're either confusing to navigate and/or charge rather high fees. If only Yahoo Japan alleviated this complication several years ago. Just think of those wonderful vintage Pilots at 20-50% off what you've paid for them on FleaBay! wink.gif Recently, it appears the prices have come up quite a bit... the only advantages still left are some items you just can't find on FleaBay and that some items on Yahoo Japan are still considered rather common, thus prices are still comparatively low.
