Hello All,

Well, my 'squeaky' CS from this post is not squeaky any more after going to work with me each day and doing lots of writing.

Here's what it looks like. Rather amber barrel, but I got it out of curiosity over lever filling and for writing rather than display.

The nib is still rather dry and as I am a light-handed writer, still getting used to having to be a bit more firm. As you can see in this sample (written with Waterman Florida Blue), it wasn't until the last three words that I remembered! When I do write a little harder, a much smoother line appears.

It is unusual isn't it? Amid all the full hatch patterns, this one with the clear barrel is rather fascinating. It is my first lever fill and it is nice to see how it works inside.
I got it from Peter Ford at Melbourne Vintage Pens.

Oh and I've changed the ink to the 'wetter' Waterman South Sea Blue and it is starting to write better. It's my daily note-taker at work at the moment.

All I can say is that you're very lucky - and I'm very envious.

My first thought was that it was a mismatch (I've actually got a blue hatched 475 - both cap and body). But checking Jonathans site it does seem as if it was made like that - apparently they also made it in Mauve !!!!

My guess is that it's a pretty rare colour combination.

Its a fabulous pen, Nicole!

With regard the dry nib this can be fixed easily. The tines need to be separated slightly and flow will result. The crude way is to gently slide a thin knife blade between them and open them slightly, give it a test and repeat if necessary. Another way is to grasp both sides of thenib and, gently, bend upwards which has the efect of opening the tines. Again a little then test and repeat. The last alternative is to send it to an expert!

Its such a nice pen it would be worthwhile, in my opinion. May encourage more use too.

Congratulations.
