We had our pen meeting today in Cambridge Ontario and as always the combination of super nice people that share a TOTAL love to FP's+ gorgeous pens is exhilarating and excite me everytime more and more.
I am always happy to have Sean (SMG) look at my pens and unless there is something serious with them (then he takes it with him to work on them) he tweaks my pens and always leave me amazed how great a little tweak could be.I let him check my new Duke Bamboo and he worked on the nib for only few seconds and WOW this pen is now rated as a SUPER writer. It is better then most of my other pens.Isnt that funny such a cheap pen and unimpressive little steel nib turn out to be Sooo good.
Thanks Sean for all your help

Guys put all jokes aside having a pen meeting is a sweet joy that only few people here on the FPN get the chance to have either becuase its too far from their homes, they are too lazy to go to a meeting or they just dont care.

Amir, thanks for the kind words. I take alot of pleasure from our meetings as well as the look on someone's face when I hand them back a pen I have worked on. It is always great to see someone light up when a pen that did not write is now one that they can hardly put down. That is what this business is all about for me.
There is no reason that steel nibs cannot be as smooth and flow as well as gold, at least in my opinon. I see alot of people malign IPG nibs, which can be made into very impressive writers with some attention.
I was actually very impressed with that Duke, a solidly built pen of good size. I might have to pick one up.
Cheers,
Sean

As a regular attendee of the monthly pen breakfasts in Cambridge, I have to agree with Goodguy that they are a real pleasure to attend. Goodguy drives probably 55 miles one way to attend and I drive 40 miles one way to be there, but it's well worth it and I wouldn't miss a meeting if I could possibly help it. Great bunch of people with a vast knowledge of modern and vintage pens. What's even better, as Goodguy has noted, we have amongst us our very own nibmeister of the Great White North, Sean, who is more than willing to share his considerable knowledge and skills with us humble accumulators/collectors. If there are any "lurkers" out there who live in the area you should attend one of our meetings. I think you'll find them very worthwhile; I certainly do and think they are well worth a two hour round trip drive.

No kidding! They even bring sweet pens for you to buy while you're there!
Which I didn't do (yet), but two of them tempted me.
It was great fun. I really enjoyed it. It was great having a chance to try out some different pens, too. Rufus was nice enough to let me try a few of his italic nibs, which has saved me from getting the wrong size and being disappointed.
