Any comment on this ?
It's something similar to Pilot Varsity and Platinum Preppy right ?
Finishing is better but more expensive too.

No, it is a kind of cheappie Parker 180, plastic nib, but interesting different writing widths depending on your writing angle or the side of the nib, you can write in any nib position 360 grades.

I received one as a gift around 15 years ago, and still working the original nib/cartridge/disposable section (Of course I have not used it a lot).

Hope helps

There are two Pentel Tradio pens, and one pencil. The fiber-tipped one is most often seen in the USA, but there is also a metal-nibbed fountain pen version, I've seen the pictures!

The fiber-tipped one is like a fountain pen, as Julio described, but it is really not one. In addition to varying line widths, I have noticed that when you vary the pressure/writing anlge in mid-stroke, the fibers sling around on the tip, throwing microdots of ink around your writing. You've gotta look hard to see them, but they're there.

The fiber tipped ones do use a lovely saturated black ink, though, and the experience is nice, with varying line widths possible depending on angle and pressure.

Hi,

The metal nibbed one uses a Schmidt nib as far as I know. I have one sitting in my shop ready to be returned to its owner. Nothing much to look at.

Not the TRJ50 stylo pentel

I'm talking about the TRF real fountain pen like shown in the picture (found from the net) below :

TRF100

Comes with stainless steel nib with gold plating and iridium point
I think it takes standard internation cartridges.

What do you by "similar"? I mean, they're all fountain pens...

Both the Varsity and the Preppy are much cheaper (and offer better looks/value for money) than the Tradio.

The Varsity is a disposable fountain pen. The Preppy costs a little more, but takes Platinum cartridges. Can find the carts at Kinokuniya too, and Daiso (try the Plaza Singapura branch).

Back to the Tradio:

The Tradio is priced like a more expensive school pen, but imho all the finishes look cheap and horribly tacky. sick.gif

Just to point out that the Sailor A.S. Manhattaners pen costs as much as the Tradio (about S$22) and looks much better (and cuter).

(I wrote an earlier post about the pen: http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...=61661)

You should be able to find these Sailor pens at NBC and Kinokuniya.

There's a store in the basement of Raffles City. #B1-66/67. (The signboard looks like "ANBC" but their business cards say "NBC" /shrugs)

There's another in Bugis Junction I think, but don't know where.

These guys also stock the stationery departments in Kinokuniya stores here.

Sadly, no. The Kino discount card doesn't apply to stationery.

(But some notebooks are classified as "Books" in their system, and the card will give you a discount for those. Just ask.)

Thanks.
Looks like the only way to get reasonable priced VP is thru the net.
