So far I'm very happy with my Custom 74 demo with fine nib. I'm kind of suprised it's not near as fine as expected from a medium nib but I can live with it. However I have no clue if you can replace nibs on these pens, say to get italic type nibs and such.

Also I have no paperwork or anything ok the care and feeding of my new "pet". Is there such info out there? or is this a self contained item? You know, buy what you want and deal with it.

I'dlove to know more about these pens.

Pilot doesn't offer italic nibs, although they do have music nibs which is somewhat similar to an italic nib. The other alternative is to purchase another Pilot pen with the nib of your choice and have it ground down to a italic nib (as Pilot doesn't offer nibs or anything else for that matter for spare parts).

Did you check under the removable plastic tray in the presentation box? If the pen didn't come with a care manual, let me know and I'll scan one at a later time.

All I got was the plastic bag it came in. No box or anything. I'd love to see some paperwork on it, thanks biggrin.gif

Plastic bag? I haven't bought I pilot yet that hasn't come in a box with a cartridge, instructions and converter. Did you get it 2nd hand?

No brand new a sealed bag. MoiDo is the place I've been getting my pens.

Hi,

I buy from Ujuku, and mine came inside of a sealed plastic sleeve with the plastic case, instructions in Japanese and English, and a cartridge.

Next Question biggrin.gif Scratchy writing, is it from the ink or the fine nib? From what I have come across so far I'd say the ink doesn't like the pen, I'm ok with that at the moment as it's not my intended ink for this pen. But what if it's the nib? What can be done about a scratchy F nib? My first thought was to look it over with my loop and posably touch it up on my 16k shapton glass stone... but that may facet the nib. Talking with KssKss (Ken) we figured a leather pad with Cro2 may work but worried about the powder clogging the nib point... So I'm kind of wondering what is the better path...

Ya go figure, I found a few links for just this sort of thing... I've read many of them and have a good idea on how to get it done. If anyone still would like to comment I'd love to read it.
