Full Version: With a Stipula Erturia Soon To Be On Its Way....
The Fountain Pen Network > Regional Focus > Penne Stilografiche della Bella Italia

With the help of this group I decided on the Erturia as my second Italian...after the Aurora Optima 986. You may recall my general requirements were for larger (Pel 800 / MB 149) size piston filler pens. Also nice, but not critical were pens with interchangeable nibs...2 pens in one since I have a split personality smile.gif.

But, after the Etruria what should be next? I learned today that a good friend will be traveling back to Italy in November and I'd like to have him bring a pen back. What would you recommend I ask him to look for, both in new models and perhaps even the more easily found older models likely to be found in pen shops?

Once I know the specific geographic location of their trip I'll also be back to see if there are specific shop recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

Congrats!!!! The Etruria is a delightful pen.

Seems like you need a Visconti or an Omas. smile.gif

If you're looking for vintage, there's a lot more Omas out there since Visconti's only 20 years old.

Can you be a bit more specific on models? I'm not really keen on the three sided models of Omas and isn't Visconti just lever fill?

Get an Omas Arco Milord before any Viscontis. It'll be a pen you'll cherish.

BTW: Europe's prices at most stores are list price, with a high sales tax.

Yes, I would not recommend having your friend buy in Italy. The prices are actually cheaper here than there and you can get discounts here. It is not fair to have your friend check store after store when there are not many discounts.

I'm going to Italy in a few weeks and though I love my Omas, Stipula, and Visconti, do not anticipate doing much in terms of pen buying (maybe looking, if my dear wife permits... rolleyes.gif ).

[For Omas: Milord is a good one if you don't like the 360s. I prefer the 360, though.

For Visconti: any of their double-reservoir piston fillers or their Metropolis.
