I've found my old style amber Etruria and plan to get 2 nibs, but which two? The seller has F, M, B, 1.1 italic and 1.3 italic. I leaning toward a fine and a 1.1 italic. I chose fine because I want one of the nibs to have a fine line for detail work. Since it appears Stipula fines may write more like a medium, I figure I can always send it off to be reduced. I chose 1.1 because I'd like to try an italic which I understand is more cursive than crisp. Its probably still too wide for my likes but I figure I can always send it off to be reduced. Also, since I prefer obliques due my natural rotation, I assumed both nibs would be large enough to be ground oblique if needed.

Since this will be my first Stipula and first Etruria I appreciate the wisdom of the group in making this first purchase. So....I'm listening...

The 1.3s are hard to find, so if you got one of those, you could swap it for anything. smile.gif

Yes, the 1.3s are really a BB. Stipula doesn't really make an OB. I have only rarely seen mention of the 1.3.

What an honor to provide new info to Diedre smile.gif. From what I've found there are many more nibs:

The two-tone 18k gold rhodium-plated nib of the Etruria fountain pen is available with the classic Stipula sizes: Extra Fine (EF), Fine (F), Medium (M), Broad (cool.gif, Oblique Broad (OB), Very Broad Oblique (OBB), Italic 0.9, Italic 1.1, Italic 1.3, and Special 52 degrees.

Gah, of course there are. I knew that. I must need more coffee.
I was thinking reverse oblique, not oblique. Aurora makes both, but Stipula doesn't.

Oh, and: I don't know anyone who stocks nibs even as weird as the 0.9 in the US, much less the obliques. They're pretty much all special order.

coffee is good...more is better...can't write, or talk without it smile.gif.

actually i was only able to find an old style (gold leaf) etruria outside the us and only one dealer who would sell nib sections indvidually. i guess you can get em from stipula but i understand they're on vacation for august! those italians do more than pens right!

i could have gotten the newer sterling trim but i started looking a few months too late to get the older gold/silver trim so i HAD to really spend a lot of energy to find one....now all i have to do is wait for the deal to go thru!
