/waves hi

My name is Iris and I discovered your forums a week or two ago when I got a hankering for another fountain pen. I live in Richmond, CA, a little north of San Francisco. My first one was given to me years ago by my boyfriend (a Waterman) that proved to be too heavy for extended use.

I originally became fascinated with fountain pens because of the beauty and there was, for me, a kind of romanticism about them. I've also always had an unhealthy obsession with pens and paper. More recently, I've come to appreciate the flexibility of fountain pens as well as the smoothness with which they write. Having just gotten back into FPs, my newest buy is a Cross Sauvage, which has been a great re-introduction, though there have been a few kinks.

Looking forward to lurking around here a bit more, and learning more! Hopefully my pen collection won't outpace my income. laugh.gif

Welcome to FPN! If you liked the Waterman except for the weight, you might like the Phileas, which is much lighter, and a very nice writing low-cost pen.

If you ever get into the city, do you/have you ever eaten at il Fornaio on Battery in Little Italy? It actually is the oldest Italian Restaurant in the US. First opened in 1886; had to move a few times, notably after the 1906 quake. Probably the best Italian food I have ever had, and superb service, and the prices were fairly reasonable. And the view is spectacular.

Donnie,

Nope, I don't get out to eating in the city as much as I'd like to, it's way too easy and delicious to eat my way through Berkeley/Oakland first! I will definitely keep in mind Il Fornaio for future reference though.

Question: where do you get your FP fix in the area? I was out at the SF shopping center the other day and was saddened to see that the pen store they had was gone.

Not yet, though the thought does have me turning an eye towards every antique store sign I see...

Welcome, Iris,

Love San Francisco too. And was through Richmond back in the '90's. Beautiful country. It still is pretty much country? I hope we haven't paved over all the country yet.

Hi there Iris. Nice name. And your boyfriend is a Waterman?
But, seriously, if you're hoping that FPs won't overtake your income, I'm very sorry that I must now advise that... Ahh...you know darn well what I was about to say.

Hello and welcome to FPN. Kick off your shoes and have a stroll around the grounds. There is lots of good information as well as people willing to share information. Heck you might even pick up a pen or two at the Marketplace.

Once again welcome.
