When I joined FPN last November I had just a Waterman Phileas. I now have 14 pens; mostly vintage. My first “good” pen was a green striped Pelikan M600. I found the nib a bit broader than I expected and Richard Binder refined it to perfection. Although I keep three pens in rotation, seldom is my Pelikan not in my shirt pocket. A joy to behold and the quality of the pen demands that I slow down and write more clearly.
You have made a wise choice. Enjoy.

My M400 is in blue. My other Pelikans are all in green.

Congrats!!! I think you will be very pleased with the color! Pels do tend to write a little wide. I've got a blue stripe 400 and 800 and the 800 ballpen and pencil to match. What I need now, is what you just ordered!! Let us know how you like it when it arrives.

My M600 stays filled with ink and yes the blue barrel is very rich. Just wait it looks better once you add ink! That is another good point. I can write forever!

I have both the blue stripe and green stripe M400.
Both are equally stunning.
Hmmm, maybe I should consider the maroon stripe as well................

You may be happy or not. One is never sure, as there is that effect of when one spends a good deal of money on a thing they are loath to ever own up to not liking it.
However, for the record, I did put down the money for a brand new in the box, from a main line dealer, Pelikan M605 and I have never thought it was a good pen nor worth the money.

Yep. A very good choice. I have tried the M800 and the M100, but for me, the most comfortable and "perfect size" Pelikan is the 600 series. I have four of them now. Excellent workhorse pens and also very beautiful variants are available (620, 625, 650) that are the same comfortable size with a little extra in the looks department.
I can write with any of those pens for literally hours if necessary and my hand never tires.... Perfect blend of size and performance. I prefer F or XF rounded nibs, and medium cursive italics. A M6xx ground into an italic (cursive, stub, or crisp) is really a joy to use.
I think you'll really like it. Excellent choice.

I'm in the same boat with others: had an 800, had a 1000..the 600 is just the perfect size/weight for me. Mine was also from Richard, and is flawless. There aren't too many negative things said about Pelikans, and generally those that offer their negative 2 cents are over-blowing things to the extreme.

I agree. The M600 is the perfect size for me. I love pelikans and can't complain one bit about them. Smooth writers, high ink capacity, interchangable nibs, professional yet interesting in design, whats to complain about?

I love my Pelikan and intend to get more but if I could complain one thing about them is their lack of "character" compared to italian nib. Mind you I love to write with mine but there is just that extra-character about italian nibs which is hard to resist

P.S. My Pelikan is among my favorite so
despite the character thing it ain't doing so bad

My Omas Paragon! That's the pen with my favorite nib out of the whole bunch! The way it effortlessly glides across the paper and sways as it writes. It's like writing with a stiff as nails "old prune" and then the charming "Southern Belle". My M600 is no old prune, though! That's my second favorite nib.
P.S. I think I can ruin some good topics with my crazy thoughts

Ahhh, the Pelikan nibs are not even in my top 5 favorites. To me these are workhorse pens, meant to be carried and used with absolute dependability and consistency.. THe Pelikans deliver this in spades... They look good, but I certainly wouldn't put their nibs anywhere near the category of "Beautiful" such as Stipula, Omas, Montblanc, etc..
With Pelikan, It's not the nib.. it's the PEN... Their nibs feel wonderful and look good.. but the overall pen as a unit is the perfect work pen...
Opinions vary, but that's why I love them...

I actually sold mine and am planning on buying an M800. I found the M600 just a little too small.

Worst case, if its too small, sell it here on the marketplace and save a little bit for the M800.
