Hello all,
I was just wondering if many of you use personal embossers on your letters and books etc. I picked up a book in a local used book store in my area and saw the original owners embossed symbol. I made a few comments about it to my wife about the design and statement it branded in the book. I'm not a collector of books so I wasn't put off by the branding.
Well she went ahead and suprised me with an early birthday gift, my own embosser for my books. This got me to thinking if embossers have a place with personal letter writing. I know they have a place in the business world.
There is no better place then here to ask this question to, so what do you say, do you use them with your writings?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this.

jmann,
At first I thought embossing sounded a bit over the top, a bit too officious. But you know, the more I think about it, personalization in this world of standardization is a good thing. Thus, emboss at will. Make you're mark if you're proud of it.

I don't have an embosser, but love the idea. What kind of embosser did your wife get for you? I'd love to see what it looks like, and what sort of embossing it produces if you can post some pics.

I couldn't find a picture of the one I have. Well no, I couldn't find a picture of it on the Staples web site that does it justice. On the Staple web site it's the top embosser. It's a hand held model.

http://www.crane.com/prdsell.aspx?name=rm1...ersonalembosserMy design says what the top left designs says, but it has a picture of a open book in the center.
I don't have a picture of mine to upload.

I do not have one, but would like to have one made. I think they had a special something to a letter. Especially a monogram at the top of some very nice stationery.

I've received a couple of letters from JBB with her monogram embossed on the bottom of the last page (by the signature). I think it's an elegant finishing touch and I really like it. I'm now considering having one made for myself. It definitely has a place in personal correspondence.

Can you just get additional plates for the embosser you have?

This subject has actually been on my mind now for several hours. I'm in. I'm going to have the woman who designed my novel's cover come up with a design for me and then use it for my correspondence and singings. Thanks for the idea. It'll make those books special.
