So lets say you're stuck on an island or the moon and you are allowed one pen to have with you wich one will it be. I would take my Mont Blanc Meisterstuck.

As I have a limited number to choose from, I'd take my recently acquired copper Esterbrook 'J'. I figure I'd have plenty of time to work at getting the recalcitrant thing writing properly.........

I'd want that one that James Bond has, the one that shoots flares.

Definitely, if the rules allow that much of a pen holder.
If it is pen only, Fisher Bullet.

Why do I need a pen on an island? Do I have paper? Can I send letters? When the mail helicopter comes, can't I just mail myself back home? Shouldn't I be more worried about food?

Visconti Art Nouveau - I could signal the planes with the Sterling Silver overlay. And it has a spider on it, so I'd have a friend! Maybe I'd name the spider Friday...maybe later today.

Oo! My sterling Visconti Metropolis should do the trick then!
Will I have tissues or blotter paper, as well as an unlimited supply of Noodler's Old Manhattan Black?
And matches. I'll need matches.

I imagine the pen is to cradle while rocking back and forth in a stupor of hunger and despair.
Nice, huh?
P.S. I thought what you said was funny!

For a while there, I carried my four favorite fountain pens, my passport, and let's just say "some cash," in case I had to make a dash for the airport.
Not saying I wanted to; just wanted to be prepared....

18 posts and no-one has mentioned a Parker 51 yet. Until now.
Personally, I think that any pen that has lasted 50-60 years and still works, is probably a good choice for a desert island.
And don't forget to take some ink.
A pen without ink is like having one telephone...

The choice will be difficult because there are many pens that I like. So let's think a little. I think it will be Parker 51/Sonnet or Sheaffer Imperial. They have to be flighters because metal body is stronger so the pen may last longer. I don't know how much ink I'll have, so maybe I'll have to prepare it from some herb or fruit juices or other fluids which may be corrosive. It means that the pen must have gold nib to survive this. Quality of such ink may be poor and it may clog the feed, so I'll need the possibility to disassemble the pen easily for cleaning. Since I don't know what paper I'll have, I need a pen which will write good on low-quality materials, i.e. with bold nib. So I think it will be Parker Sonnet flighter with bold golden nib.
The question about the moon is much more difficult. It's gravity is less than that ot the Earth, so I don't know if fountain pen will write there. And if I go to throuh the space where it won't write for sure. Another question is how and what can I prepare ink on the moon from.
