Howdy,

One of the pens which walked up my way of late is a miltary clip late 1920's Wahl GS Personal Point (the fat short #4 nibbed critter). It will clean up very nicely, though might need a feed swap if cannot clean up the hits there.

Still, i grabbed this one mainly due to the nib. Stub about 1.2-1.3mm (would be double broad or so to my eye regarding vintage nibs) that also has major league flex.

And, i enjoy milking my credit-card-size-ish point and shoot camera to show what can be done with gear that is not "pro".

I left the original patina and schmutz on the nib to add character.

The final image is just a crop, no enlargement, from the native file, showing the close-in capability of the wee Sony point-n-shoot. Hand-held. And, even that shot didn't max out the macro effect the camera could do. The nib could have been shot closer still.

Fun nib. Grand little camera.

regards

Nice photos, David -- here and in other threads.

What's the Sony model you're using? Those are crisp, sharp macros!

(The pens are nice, too. Especially the green one with the airplane clip, at least it looked like an airplane clip to me.)

Story has it that Parker tried to buy rights to that airplane clip for $10k.

These shots were done with Sony T-10 7.2MP. Has excellent close-in feature.

amazing photos david. was there something special about that particular model Sony for macro, or do the succeeding models (think they're up to T70) work as well?

I've heard good things about the Sony T-10. I almost bought one, but then I was persuaded to buy a Canon 5is, which I'm very pleased with. But your macro shots are making me go "hmmm...."

Not just about the camera, btw. Some of your pens are hard to resist.

Some Sony cameras have very nice close-in feature. Others not. website dpreview.com is great place to check. Lots of specs and reviews once one knows how to navigate the site. I chose this one in part for its excellent close-in
