Hi all,

I've been reading through the forums for a while, looking to graduate from a Cross Townsend I got as a high school graduation present.

Thanks to all the posts and reviews here, I now have a yellow Sailor 1911M with an extra-fine nib. smile.gif I was wondering if you fine folks could tell me how a Platinum ultra extra fine nib compares to the Sailor EFs. I've become mildly obsessed with writing extremely fine lines, and I haven't seen anything on FPN that really covers Platinum's UEF offering.

Thanks!

Welcome to FPN. I have a couple of Sailor 1911s (the large versions). I'm not familiar with the Platinum brand. Is it a Japanese brand?

Hi there and welcome too.

Sorry, I don't have any Sailor, but, yes, a 1911 is already on the list.

Welcome to FPN.
Unfortunately, I dont know anything about the pen you are interested in.

Check out the FPN sub-forum that is Pens from The Land Of the Rising Sun". All the Japanese pen experts hangout there, and you would get an answer if you posted your question there.

Hi:

Comparing a Sailor Profit Silver (Somiko) Steel Titanium Gild Plated Broad nib VS a Platinum #3776 with a Broad Steel Gold plated nib, I find the Platinum broader and weter than the Sailor,

I do prefer the Sailor,

Hope helps,

Julio

Welcome, and have you tried Japanese nibs? They're obsessed with ultra fine. Pilot and Namiki can go smooth and razor thin.

Welcome to the forums. As you can see, help abounds here.

Hello and welcome to FPN!

Thanks for the words of welcome!

I am, like the Japanese, obsessed with fine pointed writing instruments. I posted in Pens from the Land of the Rising Sun, and I'm looking forward to replies. Thanks for the broad nib comparisons, Julio. I'm thinking that if the Platinum UEFs were much finer than the Sailor EFs, there'd have been a lot more noise made about them.

Thanks again!
