I wonder if someone can give me the measurements of a Cigar Portable in comparison to a Cigar Piccolo — from end of barrel to end of section just before the nib begins — uncapped. I'm looking for the size of the pen in hand to help me make a decision. I'm a little confused with the sizing chart on nibs.com site, and upon e-mailing my question I learned they are on vacation right now. Also, if someone happens to be fortunate enough to have both of these pens, and then happens to have a photo of the two side-by-side (and uncapped), would you mind showing? I am getting closer to ordering what has been my grail pen these last some years. ohmy.gif Thank you in advance.

(Actually, it doesn't have to be the Cigar model, of course, since the pens with clips are the same length. I guess I'm just focused on the models I'm considering. smile.gif )

Here's an alternate size chart from Nakaya's website:
http://www.nakaya.org/esize.html

The "barrel length" is the length from tip of nib to end of pen.

Here's a picture of all the Nakaya pens capped:

My Cigar Portable measures almost 109 mm, or around 4.25 inches, which agrees with John Mottishaw's site.

Unless I'm reading John Mottishaw's site incorrectly, it appears the Piccolo is longer than the Portable uncapped. I had thought the Portable was longer than the Piccolo both capped and uncapped. I like both pens, but I want to make sure I have a long enough pen for my hand. I've ruled out the longest Nakaya as too long for me. If the Portable is 4.25" not including the nib, that would probably be the right size; although, if the Piccolo is somewhat longer I'd probably get that one since I like the shape. Thanks to you and Neo Tiger. I still would love to see a photo of both pens together, uncapped, if anyone has one.

I wondered about that, too. According to the Mottishaw site, the Piccolo is smaller in weight, closed length, and posted length, which seems logical as it is advertised as the smaller. Yet the Piccolo is supposed to be larger in barrel length? Wait a few weeks and talk to someone at Mottishaw's store, who can compare both and give you the actual measurements.

Looking at this again, my GUESS is that the Piccolo barrel length is 3.5 inches, and NOT 4.5 inches. I say this because my cap adds about 1.75 inches to the barrel length, and the Piccolo is clearly smaller than the Portable. But again, check with Mottishaw's store.
