My new used CC I FP came in today and everything I read about them here was
dead on. What a beautiful, well made and great writing pen! Now, today was a
bunny01.gif bunny01.gif 2 bunny day as the converter for my Waterman Man 200
also came in so of course, I had to fill them both up and "play".

I actually think the Man 200 fits my hand a bit better and it DOES have a very nice
nib, but actually the CC I seems to have a bit of a better writing nib than the Man 200
and I think that's a pretty hard order to match or beat myself. The CC I is so well
balanced and lays down such a smooth wet line that I can pretty much put aside that
it's just a hair on the thin side.

Long ago I had one of the 10kt classic BP's and that 4 extra kt has just that small bit
of "rose gold" hue to it. (Yeah, I've seen the 18's and I think they are a tad TOO "rosey")
Even though my CC I was in the box with the original paperwork, it does have some
minor micro-scratches that I need to address. From doing a pretty thorough search on
FPN it seems like some Simichrome is in order. (Welcoming differing opinions or suggestions
if anyone has any)

There is maybe one "downside" to the Gold CC I. I'll have to call it "The Gold Pen curse".
It is very closely related to "The White Car curse". If you see someone ELSE'S white car, they
all look "pretty clean". If you OWN a white car, you can wash and wax it and then just
sit there and watch it get dirty again as you stare at it. So it seems to go with the gold Cross,
it seems that every little scratch and fingerprint screams HEY! LOOK AT ME!!

Oh well, I think I can even forego that as nicely as it writes.

Thanks for the reccomendations, I'm glad I took them!

Bruce, I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying your CCI FP. I had one for many years and I loved it. It was also my first FP. One thing I liked about the CCI FP is that it had a certain appearance in the nib and section that just seemed dignified. The pen always looked good. I remember that the top of the nib was exceptionally well-made; the gold plating was smooth and glossy, and the imprint crisp. I miss it. Enjoy yours!

Chris
Glad you like the pen.

I have a couple of gold Cross products and they now have aquired a "patina" that comes from long use - ie there are so many scratches now that no one seems to stand out any more.
