Hi all.

I am already thinking about my next pen (in one or two months), and among the possibilities, there is the Bexley BX802 with a medium nib.
I did not found a review, so I need your help : is it a smooth writer ?
And something funny, I thought its shape is round, but on some pictures it isn't sure. What's the truth?
Many thanks for your help.

cfpen.

I don't own this particular Bexley, but I do own 21 other. Sixteen of my Bexleys have the 18k nib and as far as I'm concerned this is the "gold standard" of nibs. The 18k Bexley medium nib is my "go-to" nib. I also have the fine, broad and stub nibs all of which are lovely writers too. If you buy your Bexley from either Richard Binder or John Mottishaw you can be assured of getting a smooth flowing nib adjusted to your exact specifications.

I don't own it either. I thought about getting one in the Cappucino Cream the first time I saw it. It's still not off my list though. I wasn't a huge fan of the caramel colored solid section myself. Bexley nibs are good no doubt as well. Get one, you can be the first to review!

hi cfpen
I have just bought this pen in Cappuccino and am waiting for it to be delivered (should be today).
I have ordered the B nib, rather than the M, so I'll let you know how I get on!

I've enjoyed my Bexley pens. The nibs are wonderful, even on their steel nibs.

I don't yet own the BX802, though it is on my list. I am holding off on any more purchases for now, as I've a lot to get through otherwise.

It is going to depend upon which nib you ordered. If you purchased the BX802 for under $100, that will be the stainless steel nib. The $200+ model is the gold nib. Both will be excellent writing, I'm sure. Bexley nibs are well-known for their quality.

I have Bexley pens representing both nibs, and they write wonderfully. The M will flow very well. I have both fine and medium nibs.

Thanks. I hope you will enjoy yours.

Bexley nibs are well known for quality so you should be satisfied.

Please provide a pen review after you get your pen.

Minimaupassant, you should write a review of your pen with a B nib. I've never tried one of Bexley's B nibs so I would be interested in your reaction.

I will take a few moments to write a review after I've used my 18k gold broad nib a bit longer. Suffice it to say, however, it's a very smooth nib and a true broad; I find I have to write a bit more slowly with it than with my Bexley medium nib in order not to fill in my minuscles, but it does give a bit of line variation nonetheless. My preferred ink flow is 6/7 and at this setting the Bexley broad lays down a juicy line and I'm trying to decide if I shouldn't have the ink flow set drier. I like writing with this nib, but I think it'll primarily be used for short notes and signatures; the Bexley 18k gold medium is still the best all round nib I have.

I have three Bexley's. Two simplicities and one bx802. I like the fine steel nibs. They are great writers. I got mine from Dennis at Parkville Pens. Great to deal with. Dennis is great.

I will do it with a great pleasure. But before I have to buy it wink.gif
Probably in September.

Well the pen arrived and I am really delighted with it. So much so, that I am considering buying another.....
The B nib (steel) is finer than I was expecting and lays a fabulous, but controlled, line down on the paper.
Very, very impressed.

MiniMaupassant, what is the size of the pen? Can you compare it to another model (like a Pel M-600, Bexley 701, etc)?
MiniMaupassant
Easiest thing for you to do is to have a look at Richard Binder's website, where he lines the Bexley pens side by side. You can compare them all easily this way.

In fact I discovered the BX802 on Richard's website wink.gif
And this is cruel because at the beginning I wanted the Onyx model, and now I don't know, the cappuccino is also very beautiful.
Wait and see, I have a few weeks before choosing and buying.

I get to be the dissenting opinion again.
While my steel nibbed Simplicities write well, my gold nibbed Bexley's (14 and 18kt) generally have poor ink flow and are wet in one direction and bone dry/skip in the other (as in wet down and dry up strokes).

Get the steel nibbed version.
