I have a smaller size Signature RCHR pen with a #2 nib that needs some attention.

There is some dirt in the chasing, some marks that appear to be stains between the cap bands and it needs a new sac.

What can I use to clean this pen? I vaguely recall a receommendation for an ammonia/water solution but a "vague" recollection, of course, just doesn't cut it (I've learned the hard way!) and it doesn't seem right to put water any where near a hard rubber pen.

Are latex sacs OK for red hard rubber? Or can they contribute to discoloration like they do with celluloid pens?

Looking forward to your advice,

Darren.

You can use a fingernail brush -- natural bristles only, not nylon, to lift stuff out of the chasing. An ammonia/water solution is a good cleaning agent.

They're just fine. The discoloration they can cause in celluloid pens doesn't happen in HR pens.

Thanks, Richard.

What ratio should I mix water and ammonia and do you have any tips on applying the solution (and getting it off)?
Darren
Richard,

I found the post I thought I remembered, on this forum and from the Wahlnut no less! It has very specific instructions and I'll give them a go:

Wahl[nut] RHR repair and cleaning

Kind regards,

Darren.
