I'm pretty much new to anything pen related but I've been reading and lurking this forum for a little while now so I figured it was time to come out from behind the curtains. While I have owned a couple disposable pens or pens not really worth speaking of, I consider the hero 329 (ef nib) I received in the mail last week to be my first fountain pen. Today I also bought a Lamy Al Star and should be receiving it shortly. I doubt I'll be buying any more in the near future since I'm unemployed and starting college in the fall so that will give me lots of time to thoroughly enjoy the pens I own today. I don't have much more to say than that. I'm just here to learn as much as I can and maybe post some things in the classifieds (I have some Parker carts. from one of the 'unspeakables' that I would love to give away)

Welcome from the West. The Lamy should be great for taking notes and the Hero will be good for figure work.

There is a pen club in London, cannot remember the name right now. There are a few members on here from there as well.

There is a pile of us up in Waterloo, just up the 401, and we get together every month for breakfast. We are getting together on the 23rd, so if you are in for a drive, shoot me a private message and I will give you the address.

cheers,
Sean

Another welcome from Alberta. With two pens, you are ready to start experimenting with inks -- it can be as consuming as collecting the pens themselves.

All the best.

I believe it's called the London Pen Club. I have been browsing a bit on the website.

I will probably buy new ink soon. I've had my eye on J. Herbin's Vert Olive for a little while now. Just shipping is a lot and I have a $15 usps bill and a $55 fed ex bill to pay (if I can't somehow wriggle out of it because it is completely ludicrous). Thank goodness for registered air mail.

Hi and welcome to the crew!
Your picture looks like my 51 aero (in burgundy).
Maybe you could get one at Christmas time or for your birthday.

Welcome!

We are indeed the London Pen Club. Feel free to join us for coffee and pen talk at Williams Coffee Pub on Wellington Road South every Saturday morning. It's a friendly and informal group; last week we spent as much time talking about GPS navigation systems as about fountain pens.

Rick.

I would not bother ordering that online. There is a place in Waterloo which stocks J Herbin as do a few of the shops in Toronto. If you can wait until the Toronto show and are going to attend I am sure that you will be able to get some there.

If you cannot wait, shoot me a pm and we can work out something. I can pick it up and ship it to you if you need.

Cheers,
Sean

When is the show? I could probably make it out.

The Toronto show is in October, the Thanksgiving weekend for one day. Saturday, October 11, 2008, at the Hilton Toronto Airport is the date and location. Look forward to seeing you there.

That's my birthday weekend (my birthday is the 10th). Which means I'll have lots of birthday money to spend.

Hello and welcome to FPN.

Hello and welcome to FPN. Kick off your shoes and have a stroll around the grounds. There is lots of good information as well as people willing to share information. Heck you might even pick up a pen or two at the Marketplace.

Once again welcome.
