It could be said that Las Vegas is the epitome of the American way. Choices abound, capitalism roars, and there is a slightly dangerous air about. The rebellious nature of our society is celebrated to its fullest in that town. I love Las Vegas, by the way.

It might also be said, using Viktor Frankl's suggestion, that the Statue of Liberty on the East Coast could very well be balanced by a Statue of Responsibility on the West Coast. I won't disagree that Las Vegas might be the epitome of the American way, where "choices abound, capitalism roars, and there is a slightly dangerous air about." Yet I would suggest that this characterization of the American way does not necessarily celebrate the fullest sensitivity and respect for the dignity and inner mystery of the human person in all its wonder ... and its occasional moments of frailty.

I like the concept of the pen suggested above, with modification.

Have they even started construction on the Statue of Responsibility? It hardly seems to summarize America, as it is yet unbuilt and obscure.

If you are looking for a geographical counterbalance, maybe the Golden Gate Bridge or the ARIZONA Memorial?

A Vegas pen. Nice. cool.gif

I'm surprised no one has come up with a proper fine writing instrument to depict Vegas yet, as far as I know.

So it would have bright flashing lights and would drain your money the longer you used it? Count me out! biggrin.gif

Beautiful illustration! thumbup.gif

Was this real pen, ink, watercolor, or a computer Paint program? In any case, I love it.

Dear Sailor Kenshin,

Thank you for your kind comments - I didn't have a graphics tablet, so I had to draw the pen using a computer mouse and computer paint program...
