It is 90 degrees and it must be 100 degrees in my pen room so I thought I would pose this question to the knowledgeable ones. I will try and send a picture of it. The band is about 1/2 inch down from the threads on the barrel. I know the picture is not the best but my camera will only go to 7 inches from the pen. Is this pen supposed to have this gold band? It is a Canadian Pen. Is this another pen the canadians made?

Well anything is possible and it might just be that this is a very unusual factory produced pen, but that would a new one on me. So I would have to go with it being a repaired pen. It is not uncommon to find metal bands hiding the seam where a replacement threaded barrel end has been mated to the good remains of a broken barrel. It is usually more often seen as a method for replacing broken or cracked cap lips becasue the cap bands are already there and the hiddden seam is behind a band that one expects to be there. This method has been used on hard rubber and plastic pens and all metal pens too. That's what I would think this is.
