I actually don't live in Vancouver, I live in the suburb Ladner. I'm kinda new to fountain pens, I've been using some cheap one's for the past year. I started using fountain pens because i handwrite ALOT, all the time when i can. And seeing as how i'm in high school, it drives my friends up the wall, lol. I think it's funny, yet not, because none of my friends or anyone i know (that isn't older than me) write anymore, they all print! This begs the question, is writing dying out? But anyways, I got into fountain pens because there alot more intresting than your standart ballpoint, they go with my writting style.
Today, i just picked up my first fountain pen, it's a Lamy Safari Lime, i quite like it. It seems like a good daily writer. I do have some other pens, like a Cross pen and pencil set with my initials engraved. I have to say, the quality of the engraving isn't very good.
Also, i'm curious, has anyone heard of the Fisher Space Pen, especially the one with the gold shuttle on the clip?

Welcome. I've heard of the Fisher Space Pen. Apparently it was developed for use in space, and has been used in numerous space missions. I've never used one, however.

Welcoem to FPN, happyjam!! Good to have you here. Well, you will meet other high school aged folks here- so, you are not alone in using fountain pens.
Please look around all the different sub-forums, there is a lot of good info in them.

Well, I do have a Fisher Space Pen- the original, but it is a ball-point pen,and it works well.

BTW, which Vancouver are you from? Canada or Washington State? smile.gif

Welcome to FPN!
I've seen those space pens. You can write underwater, upside down, and practically anywhere, I heard. Not my thing, though. xD

Hi and welcome. Great place here, but bad for your wallet.
To me, Ladner is about halfways between Van (Canada) and Abbotsford.

I'm from the Canadaian Vancouver. I ask about the space pen, because apparently i have one. Ya, i think i have to agree with lancekatigbak, it's not like i'll be going into space anytime soon!

Hi and welcome !

I am a total fountain pen addict but I work outdoors and have to write a lot of notes so I have a Fisher Space Pen Trekker Space Pen with a Carabiner which is clipped on to my notebook so it can't make any bids for freedom of any tower cranes or scaffolds ...... plus when it starts to rain (as it does an awful lot in Ireland...) I can keep writing ! thumbup.gif

Welcome again

Welcome to this Forum.

I gave my wife a Fisher Space Pen. Bought it at the Smithsonian -- National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC, quite a long time ago. A few months before my daughter was born. She doesn't use it much any more, although she recently bought a refill. She's considering using it more again. It's a nice writing instrument.

Do you ever write in public spaces, such as cafés where, if there are other people writing, they're using laptops?

I love to examine the faces when I take out my notebook, my fountain pen, and start writing...

Well, Ladner's a lot closer to Vancouver than Abbotsford is....but you're right about it being in between (sort of) wink.gif

Welcome to FPN, happyjam64!

You might not be aware of it, but there is a Vancouver Pen Club (website (such as it is laugh.gif ) at http://www.vancouverpenclub.com ) that meets, on average, once a month, usually at a local pen store or restaurant and *usually* on the 3rd Thursday of the month (note: we don't have meetings in Dec or the summer months June-August but our meetings will resume next month in September).

It's free to join and we welcome new members. Our membership lists is at 33 members, but only about 1/3 that number show up for any given meeting smile.gif

I always try to post about the meeting details (place, time, meeting theme/topic) about a week before the meetups in the "Clubs, Events and Meetings" forum here on FPN, but please send me a PM (Personal Message) if you want more info and/or would like to be added to our email list.
