Hello, to everyone. I 've been lurking for some time and finally decided to register and post for the first time. After a some time (since my high school years) I am rediscovering the joy of fountain pen writing with a cheap little yellow pelikan. I 've been looking at a very nice Parker 61 (never inked) and at the Lamy Studio Palladium finished as the first serious buy that would go well with my rather inconsistent calligraphy (or rather cacography!). As for ink selection all I have to say is that I need to try a few dozen of them to decide what suits best, I am quite lost. Thanks for the wonderful forum.

Welcome to FPN. We all started with just one pen...

welcome to FPN.

You can get a good idea of where to start with inks in the Ink Reviews section. Nothing is as good as actually trying it yourself however. Take a look at the Ink Exchange system if you haven't alread (a pinned topic in the Inky Thoughts forum.) on the latter, i am no longer distributing vials but Dillon is taking a break from FPN so I'm not sure if he is able to provide vials at this time or not.

what model, may I ask, is the "little yellow pelikan"?
konstantinos_d
The little yellow pelikan, is a semitrasparent plastic rubberized body pen with ruberized cap and transparent grip. The tip is a Medium "Iridium Point M". I 've thrown away the carton package and do not rememeber the exact model name (couldn't find it in the current Pelikan showcase however). BTW I have dcided that the M nib on the particular pen is quite thick for my tastes, next pen will definately be an F.

Welcome aboard. I am new here too and have been spending WAY too much time on here lol, but I am loving it.

not surprising - most pel nibs tend to run wide. A reason why I stick with F and EF nibs.

Thank you for the warm welcome. My pelikan model is the Galaxia.

Quite smooth and wet writer, a bit on the wide side for my small writing though.

awwww... now why can't Pelikan sell those in the US?

Hello konstandinos! Welcome to your second home (or if it isn't, it soon will be!) Your info lists Italy - Greece as your home; I too would like to live in two Mediterranean countries at one time! wink.gif Heck, I'd like to live in just ONE at a time smile.gif

"cacography" LOL! biggrin.gif So silly, I do that too, though I never knew what it was called...

Welcome to the Network!!

Thank you for the welcome. I am Greek, but live in Italy due to my studies. I consider Greece more of a home, depsite the fact I spend 11 months a year in Italy. I always remember people trying to "correct" my writing towards a more calligraphic style, noone has succeeded. Nonetheless I enjoy writing very much, above all with a good Fountain Pen.
