I went to Monrovia and treated myself to just one more Estie. A pretty grey J (later? with a rounded lever tip) and a 1555 nib. I assume every purchase is not worthy of a post, but who am I gonna tell? You know, that moment of limerence, the pleasure of holding the plump pen, feeling that smoothness of the lid screw.
I am now averaging two Esties a week since the end of July. Enough for now!
Best,
Mars

These pens are so satisfying, aren't they? And of course we all need several, to keep inked in different colors. Well, that's my excuse for my own purchases. roflmho.gif

Enjoy!

Watch out for the slippery slope. You'll hit the point of no return soon!

I am hoping that I get my FIRST Estie today. It is a cobalt Estie J from System of Adam. I am very excited. It will be my first vintage that I can ink up. I have a "51" Special that rroossinck is looking at, and hopefully I will get that back soon.

I love that the Esties are so affordable for a new FP user like me. I hope to get some more if I like the J as much as I have been told that I would.

Just why is that, I wonder? I really like my first Estie (even though I still can't get it to write as I would like), but nothwithstanding that, it's such a lovely pen! It puts a number of the more expensive and supposedly more desirable pens I've owned recently completely in the shade, both in terms of looks and workmanship.

I got a Esterbrook Deluxe today from Rick Krantz - my first.

No sac yet, so I can't even write with it but it looks great as is.

It's not going to be my last Estie, that's for sure smile.gif

You answered your own question, I think! The easily changeable nibs are fun too. smile.gif

I think you will be more than pleased. And just remember, if you don't like the nib, try another one!
And affordable: I have a working motto of "Low Brow, High Class." In Italian there is an expression about peasant smarts, common sense: "Scarpe grosso, cervell'fin" (in dialect) that means "rough shoes, fine mind."

The think is, Esties aren't rough, they are smooth and classy.....just affordable.

Best,
Mars

I have come to really enjoy the tri-ribbed Transitionals. I think the jewel just flows so nice when clipped in your pocket. That's style!

This is what I had feared. Now that I have the J in colors I want, next come the Transitionals and then the Dollars and then the Reliefs? Or maybe just a richer shade of grey?................
