Thanks to another FPN member for sending me a vial of Sapphire Blue via the Ink Exchange.

The files I present are calibrated correct values in the file, with an embedded ICC profile for Adobe RGB. You should be able to compare any of the scans side-by-side to see the difference, because the exposure and adjustment is exactly the same in each ink scan. To aid color perception on your monitor, there is a thin white border to show the paper color (the paper is faintly blue in sunlight) and a gray matte. The matte is perfectly neutral, so judge the color relative to that.

From the close-up scan you can see how much shading there is on the HP Laser paper, and in the extreme close up you can see the feathering and differences in shade along the strokes.

So what color is it? Another review shows a scan that is purple. Some people comment that it is a purplish-blue. The HSB values show a Hue of 231°, which is right in the middle of Blue. In fact, it's 10 degrees toward Cyan from the center of Blue, which is in the opposite direction of appearing purplish!

Compare with Lake Placid Blue. This is the same color but a little brighter.

Thanks. I was wondering about this color.

This is a beautiful blue ink and your review shows it well.

However this review is also showing the shading and I'm not quite keen on this. What a pity, because I like the colour

My sample from Pear Tree has a decidedly purple cast, much more so than your image.

My favourite colour... no other blue comes close to Sapphire Blue in my opinion (and I've tried most of them)

What about Lake Placid?
