Full Version: Anyone have/tried a Sailor Realo?
I was just reading about the Sailor Realo, Sailor's only piston filler pen. Does anyone have one? Whats it like?

The Realo has been discussed a couple of times in the past. I have one. Sailor made 500 pens for the Japanese market and 100 pens for the rest of world.
The dimensions of the pen are the same as the Sailor King of Pen. It is a wonderful pen to use and just like you pointed out it is the only sailor pen with a piston filler mechanism. The piston works really smoothly and the pen holds a very decent amouth of ink . It also has a nice ink view window. The pen is really nice to write with. I have a medium 21K naginata togi nib on it. It comes in a wonderful presentation box with a very nice deer skin pen pouch.
The only issue you might run into with this pen is finding one since it has been sold out for a while now.

I'm sure its way out of my current price range
It sounds lovely. I heard a rumor that next year Sailor is coming out with a 1911 with a piston filler. Maybe I'll pick that up.
How reliable is that rumor? I read about similar rumors last year. The 1911 piston-filler is already a bit overdue. I'm torn on whether I should buy a Sailor now, or wait until the piston model comes out.... IF it comes out.

It is more than a rumor. The Sailor rep. told me that they are waiting on Sailor Japan and 2009 is the latest date they were given. 1911 International/Full sized pens. Yes, 2008 was the original date of release. I don't have any further details.
If you can wait, do it. That's what I plan to do. It would pair one of the world's great nibs with one of the very best filling systems. If you can't wait, jump in and buy a c/c to tide you over.
