I bought a new M200 steel medium nib and loaded it up with Noodler's Black Eel. It is a mess! I write just a few letters and ink begins to creep out. I'm not sure if it's the inks fault or if I need the nib adjusted. It doesn't blob onto the paper just accumilates on top of the nib. Is this nib creep? I like the look on the paper. Nice wet line and a very opaque black, but the mess is driving me crazy. I'm wiping the nib all the time. It's especially hard since I bought this combo for work use.

I'm fairly new to fountain pens. Bought my first one about 6 months ago and this the first time I've had any problems like this. Suggestions???

I had similar problems with Noodler`s Baystate Blue in three diferent pens, so I assume is may be the ink,

I just can not use that ink,

It sounds like nib creep to me. If its that annoying change inks. You really can't do much about it. Wiping it off just leads to more. If you like the dark quality of the ink, you should either try Aurora Black or Pelikan Brilliant Black.

My opinion of Noodler's Eel inks is that they seem to be "thinner" inks. The viscocity of the ink makes the flow from a pen rather fast. I use it my a very dry writing Omas Paragon Demi I bought several years ago and has had the worst ink flow of any pen I owned. Then I put the Eel in it and it works beautifully.

To me the Eel inks are made specifically for pens with stuck filling mechanisims and low/slow feed rates. Your M200 being a brand new pen would probably be better used with standard Bulletproof Noodler's. Or if you prefer a truly rich Black try the Heart of Darkness. I love the HOD Black. And save the Eel for a stubborn filling pen.

Hope this helps,
Kass

Ah, so the Eel inks are once in a while inks not daily writing ink? That could explain it. I just bought it because I had a sticky Lamy 2000 piston and this new Pelikan. Tried it in teh Pelikan first and didn't know what to think. Thanks for the info.

also make sure the nib isn't loose - but i'd be willing to bet it's the slippery eel getting to you on this one.

Depends upon the pen.

Some pens and papers it is a great ink.

I still say the first rule of fountain pens is "Not all inks, in all pens, on all paper." Although, IMHO, Skrip Blue, new or old, comes pretty close.

Best of luck
