I picked up my Delta after a few months of sitting in the drawer and out flowed the darkest, deepest, blue that I have seen in a while. What ink is it?? I have no idea! crybaby.gif

I've looked through my inks and I cannot place it. It's in a converter, so it was not some random cart that was laying around.

This is very annoying.

Hi,

Call me sad (or worse), but I have a small note book and when I fill a pen, I use that pen to write the date, make model (colour if I have more than one) of the pen and the make/colour of the ink.

One surprise is that the same ink can look slightly different when used in different pens, even though I flush mine before I put them away (unless I know I will use the same ink in it soon afterwards).

By the way doesn't the colour of ink change slightly when it's been in a pens for a while?

It is likely you have experienced evaporation of the water in the ink; condensing the dye into a deeper, richer color than it was when it went in the pen MONTHS ago. Reallly, dear. . . you ought to be a little more careful about storing pens with ink in them. crybaby.gif Nasty things can happen!

I would recommend you make some notes with the ink so you can search for the color if you like what it has turned into, and clean your pen really good before you load it up again. thumbup.gif

As Kass said, you have gotten your pen to a stage where the ink in it has concentrated due to evaporation, but is still usable.
It is likely you have some idea which of several inks it is likely to be. Do some kitchen bench chromatography with this ink, and the likely suspects. The different colour bands you get, which are not dependent on concentration, will tell you which ink it is.

I use the "About me" page in my profile here on FPN to keep track of my collection. If you click my profile you can see it. Its really helpful.

Wow, jdboucher, that is a really good idea. I might have to copy your system there!
