Greetings from Southern California! I have a small collection of Montblanc & Dupont pens--all but one purchased from authorized dealers. I have a nagging feeling about the one-- a Dupont Vertigo that was purchased from ebay in 2003. I'm concerned about the authenticity, especially since I'm considering selling it. Where do I start?
Thanks.

Oh, and by the way, I'm more of a user than a collector of my pens. Love the beauty of fountain pen ink against a crisp piece of paper!

Hello and welcome to FPN. I can't answer your questions about your pens authenticity, but I am sure there are many here who can. You might check some of the sub forums, ie. 'Writing Instruments', and post your questions there. Best of luck and great to have you here with us.

cheers

Hi there and welcome too. Here I can't say that it NEVER rains but it sometimes DOES rain (which is good for the garden).
(a) At least there is a sub-forum entitled Montblanc Forum.
{b} In regards to your everyday check of what's still on your bank account, you might someday wish that you discovered this forum even later....

Welcome. I'm not familiar with Dupont pens, but someone in the Writing Instruments forum might be able to give you some tips.

Welcome to FPN! You might want to post some photos of the pen and then the experts (I'm afraid I am not one of them) will be able to help you. AS you will see, the folks on the network are very nice and extremely helpful.

Thanks for the "Welcomes"--
This is a wonderful network.

UPDATE: After reading the Stylophiles article (which this network led me to) & after a very intense examination of the pen in question -- ST Dupont Vertigo Want-to-Be -- I'm heartbroken to say that it is a FAKE, an excellent counterfeit, but nonetheless a FAKE! What's one to do? How can I ever look at another Vertigo without reliving the hurt of the betrayal?
All kidding aside, has this happened to anyone else? If so, what did you do with your tainted pen?

Guaranteed this or something similar has happened to a lot of us. I purchased two "nice" vintage Esterbrooks from an antique store once that was a mistake. One of them had a no name nib jammed in it which I later discovered. The sad part is I had the pen in my hand in the antique store......and looked at it twice. Ah well, we sometimes learn the hard way.

Hello and welcome to FPN. Kick off your shoes and have a stroll around the grounds. There is lots of good information as well as people willing to share information. Heck you might even pick up a pen or two at the Marketplace.

Once again welcome.

Welcome to FPN!
Try selling the pen-- some people collect replicas too.
