Wonderful work, QM. What kind of shell is it? I like the asymmetric design of it, with the natural pearl in the middle. Really nice.

Thanks : )
It is an untreated fragment of an Abalone shell -- the Paua variety from New Zealand. By "untreated", I mean not covered with a coat of acrylic as is sometimes done by jewelry makers. I picked a fragment that was vaguely lilly-pad shaped, to evoke that organic image.
The nice thing about Abalone, is that it is both subdued and remarkable at the same time. When the shells catch the light, the colour alternates between silver, green and violet. But out of the light, it is a dark pewter.
