Anybody know much about Arnold Pens? Suggest a good resource?

I have a few that need to be re-saced. Any ideas on sac size?

Any oddities or cautions? I'm already aware that the plastic barrels are kind of wimpy and the ones I have are already a little pregnant, bent, or similarly damaged.

Some of these Arnold's were given to me by my uncle so they have more sentimental value than real value but I'd like to see if I can get them to write. Maybe I'd send a working one back to him!

Two of them are pencil/FP combos. Anyone know how to rejuvinate the mechanical pencil parts?

All good wishes,

Andy

I just re sac'ed an Arnold the one I had used an 18. Had to trim a lot off the sac but went in no problem.

I have to say I find it a realy nice pen the nib took some work but its just nice to use.
The plastic seemed ok to me maybe a little on the thin side.

I would get a selection of sacs and see what fits best. The one Arnold I have is a "Big Red" Arnold, and I think it took a 20 or 22. I imagine they come in many different sizes.

Mine was not anything to write home with. The plastic seemed sturdy enough, but the nib was broken at the tines, and even after regrinding to a stub it was hard to keep it aligned. It is a servicable oblique stub, but it needs attention each time I use it. Still, it's a functional pen and once it gets going it writes well

It's time you bought the assortment of different sizes. Then go to www.richardspens.com - reference info - taking care of your pens - Care and feeding, how to repalce a pen sac. (For some reason the link isn't working for me right now).

Then you will never need to ask which size is needed and your pens will have the perfect size.

I have to disagree with the comments about the Arnold pens. I have only good things to say about a pen that was made to be afordable. The nibs are Ok yes they do need some work to improve them but so do a lot of Parkers.
Its like anything you pays your money you takes your chance.

I prefer to have others opinions to go along with my own experimentation. Laying in a supply of sacs isn't the issue, rather it's the confirmation that what I think I have learned is verified by others before I waste the sac.

I don't think we want to discourage anyone from asking questions, do we?
