Like a great many of you I have a number of duplicates of the pen I like. has anybody else noticed that no two pen write the same. Parker modern duofolds that I buy just for the barrel colour, having no expectation of a writing experience. I have 2 MB149's. one with a fine nib and another that a 75th Anv. with a medium nib. The fine has a positive feel,a joy to use while the medium feels like a paintbrush. very wet, feathers on cheap paper, not bad on 150gms plus. I have pointed this out to the MB people (John Lewis in Oxford street) who when I bought the pen (Any other than fine has to be ordered in the UK) they give you a set of 146 's with all the various nibs to try. Then post you your pen. When I pointed out that all the tips on the trial 146's had the tip pellet ground square and when you wrote on your piece of paper, you got a thick and thin, thats missing from my 149. MB do not grind nibs in the UK. What can I do.

I cannot answer your question about what to do. I'm just replying because you described exactly what I most liked about my 146 (since stolen) and my Aurora Optima (also stolen) and Talentum (thankfully still in my possession). The points of all three are/were not round, but neither were they stubs. They had/have by far the best writing line of any pens I've used.

I bet if you ask on the board you could find someone in the UK who is a nib meister who could fix up your 149. In fact, you might well end up with a pen that is better than any out of the box 149. (Just trying to be positive!!)
I have several models that I own duplicates of, and yes, I agree that there are differences between what I would have thought would be the same nib. I notice lots of differences between the several Pelikan 800 Fine point nibs I have. I also have a few mediums and they are pretty much the same.
Good luck finding someone to take care of that 149. It is a nice pen and I suspect you will end up with the perfect nib, even if you have to spend a little more. JC

Post a message to say you are looking for someone in the UK who can do this for you. You are looking for the nib to be ground into a cursive or a stub.
It will be worth the hassle when you get a nib customised just for your handwriting.
