What ink do you use in your VP and why?

I only have the one VP and I use it everyday, it's filled with Noodlers Walnut and I really have no interest in changing that... which meens I needs another VP to play with tongue.gif

I carry 3 VPs on a daily basis -- both because they're so convenient to use at work, and because I can load them with ANY ink. I have yet to find an ink they don't like.

Currently I have Noodler's Nightshade, PR Tanzanite, and Noodler's Squeteague. I have a number of pens that cannot cope with Noodler's "stickiness" -- but the VPs are troopers.

BTW, two of my VPs have Deb Kinney CI nibs -- what a treat!!

Currently, I carry 6 VP's to work with me daily, and all 6 have Noodler's in them:

deep yellow VP with FPN Galileo Manuscript Brown (Binderized .7mm cursive italic nib unit in this one)
gunmetal VP with Air Corp Blue Black
green w/gold trim VP with Marine Green
black w/gold trim VP with Pendemonium Legal Lapis
red/black "cross" w/gold trim VP with Heart of Darkness
blue/black "cross" w/gold trim VP with Legal Lapis (with another Binder .7mm cursive italic nib unit)

The 2008 LE purple VP has been preordered, should see it within the next 2 months. It will get Noodler's purple, or maybe Concorde Grape. I'm still waiting to see just what color of purple the VP will be.

I'm currently using Pilot/Namiki Blue in my VP because it's blue, cheery, bottled, water-resistant, and well-behaved.
I've also used Pilot/Namiki Blue-Black in my VP and enjoyed that too except for the higher cost of cartridges compared to bottled ink.

I've used Noodler's Eternal Luxury Blue in my VP. The writing experience was very good. I don't mind Noodler's waterproof ink creep on most pens, but the ink crept aggressively over the VP nib and inner unit, got onto the trapdoor seal, dried up, and eventually made the seal un-airtight (problem solved by flushing the trapdoor every two weeks with an earwax-kit squeeze bulb).

FPN Member HDoug loves to use waterproof Noodler's inks in his VP. He's solved the creep problem by putting automobile wax on the inner unit, "upstream" from the nib. I thought about doing that but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Blue with rhodium trim and medium nib - Diamine Prussian Blue. Because it's my favorite blue and I want to use it often.

Red with GP trim and Fine nib - Diamine Aqua. Because it's a good editing ink. Considering trying Diamine Vermillion in it though for the same reason. Not crazy about red inks but so far Vermillion has proven to be rather well-behaved. Perhaps because it isn't overly saturated with a particular red dye.

Both VPs get used regularly and will probably be used all the more so in coming months (school).

At the moment, in my blue carbonesque VP, I have the Namiki Blue cartridge that came with the pen, but that's only because I want to empty it so that I can refill it with other ink. Usually, I use Aurora Black. The VP seems to be a businesslike pen to me, and it calls out for a good, dark, black ink.

I am using Aurora black at present, did not like it with my broad nib, works better in my medium nib, a little on the wet side, I might give the black cartridges a try,

If Décimos count, then:

- gray one with F nib and Pilot's Iroshizuku tsuki-yo
- dark blue with M nib and Noodler's blue-black

Regular VP:

- green/gold with M nib - in pen drawer because it's too big for comfort

1:1 Pelikan Black:Green. Because the pen is green. smile.gif

Blue Carbonesque Medium stub (Mottishaw I think)- Kon-Peki
Burgundy/Rhodium Broard stub (Again Mottishaw) - Asa-Gao

As you would expect, these Pilot inks work brilliantly in Pilot pens.

Reasons...I love the colours

Two VPs: currently Sailor Blue Black in a B nib that was ground to a .7mm cursive italic and Waterman Florida Blue in a Binder ItaliFine. I have used Sailor, WM, MB, and Diamine inks with the above nibs. I also like to use Aurora and Pilot inks in my F nibs.

I use these brands because I like the colors they offer and the properties of the inks.

VP Raden : Mont Blan Season Greetings 2006
VP Yellow : Noodler's Baystate Blue biggrin.gif Yes I like to live on the edge.

Since the converter is so small; I've just been using the Namiki cartridges. I really like the red and black.

I'm using J. Herbin Perle Noire in my Pearl White Décimo, and it makes it so super smooth and wonderful to write with! cloud9.gif

1. Blue Mica Décimo VP with Medium Nib: Pilot Blue in a squeeze converter. Because that's the ink I bought with the pen from Ujuku Pen Shop in Japan.

2. Black Carbonesque VP with Medium Nib: FPN Van Gogh Starry Starry Night Blue in a twist converter. Because I like the the Starry Night looks almost black, a good combination.

3. Chrome VP with Binder 0.6mm Stub Nib: PR American Blue in a twist converter. Because I got this ink at our pen club meeting last week, and this pen was empty and we needed to try the ink.

Rick.

edit: because a 6mm stub nib would be HUGE.
