I have a Montblanc 38 ballpoint. I wouls like to buff it and make it shine again. I am using a bottle of Fountain Pen Hospital polish. So I put a glob on the pen, and rubbed the pen thoroughly with a paper towel. The pen came out worse than before, it is all dull and hazy now. What did I do wrong?

I've never used FPH polish, so don't know how it really behaves, but the problem might be the paper towel. Try a soft cotton cloth or a microfiber cloth if you've got one laying around.
