The logic board on my iBook G3 died this week, leaving me with a stylish paperweight and a Airport card that I don't need anymore.

This the original 802.11B Airport Wireless Card, which is compatible with the PowerBook G4 Titanium, PowerBook G3 Pismo, G3 iBook Dual USB and G3 iBook Clamshell, as well as first generation eMacs and iMac G4s. The Airport Card supports a wireless data transfer rate of up to 11Mbps with a range of up to 150 ft.

They're tough to find these days, but you can buy mine (which worked great in my machine) for $50, including USPS first class shipping to the continental US.

Taken off the market, for the most bizarre reason I've ever seen in my nearly 20 years of Mac use.

I took the Airport card out of the iBook G3 today and just for the heck of it, tried starting up the machine again. It sprang back to life. This, after the repair guy at my Mac dealer pronounced my machine dead last week.

I don't know if that was enough to make a Mac rise from the dead, but I won't argue with the result.

This is one of the great "magic finger" repairs I've ever seen.

So, my iBook is alive, for now. The Airport card works. I am able to send this post from the machine.

Unbelievable!
