Greetings fellow fountain penners...

I was eagerly reading tips about nib adjustment, and went to the link provided by Richard Binder to procure some of these micro thin brass sheets to help adjust the gap between the tines of my Stipula italic nib.

Turns out the model railroad supplier doesn't seem to carry the product any longer.

Does anyone know of other sources?

I want to be very careful and conservative about adjusting my own nib. I'll send it out, if necessary, but I'd like to be able to do this myself.

Thank you for any sources of this product, or suggestions for alternative materials/procedures, etc.

If you live in the US, I'll send you a couple of squares in the mail at no charge. Just PM your address.

Brass sheet in 1,2,3, and 5 thousandths of an inch is sold in small packages at U.S. hobby stores that cater to model railroad builders. Mine came in 5 x 5 inch sheets, more or less, and will be enough for a few lifetimes.

Otherwise, you may wish to look for a sheet metal supplier such as a jeweler's supply house.

Thanks for that generous offer. I won't presume to extent your boundary to the 51st state, heheh, Canada. Costs more to mail things here.

I know of one model rail road store in town, but it's very small. Still, it'd be probably worth checking.

Or other on line hobby suppliers. Hadn't thought of that before. These brass sheets just seem such a strange item. I can't imagine what they are intended for.

You can use the packaging plastic that everything comes in nowadays. Just make sure that it isn't the thick stuff.

I have contacted Junkuar and will be sending him some shim stock to try to alleviate the issue with his pen.

It's also known as brass shim stock, can be found at many machine shop suppliers.
