Hi,

There are a few things I need to get. Quite simple really, just don't know where to get them.

I saw in the pinned post the link to McMaster, but the selection is SOOOOOO huge, I'm kinda lost there!

So any recommendation as to where I should get these, I'd appreciate.

Both these for eyedroppers:
Silicon Grease
Rubber ring (called O ring I think?)

Then, there is the small pen twiddle stuff:
Sand paper, very fine (the finest I can find is 1500 grit)
Small sheet of metal to "floss" the nibs

Thanks,

nick

Hi Nick,

If you want to smooth nibs, get a micromesh stick (Tryphon, Woodbin and others, around 1.5 dollars) or Richard's kit. Sandpaper is much too rough IMHO.

If you're impatient, try a well-stocked hobby shop, particularly one with stuff for R/C models. They've got some pretty fine abrasive items-- I found a cushioned stick of 6000-grit. They also carried some very fine brass sheet, as well as some slightly expensive but very soft-mouthed pliers.

Tryphon has all that. Woodbin also has some of that stuff, and hes up in Canada, like you. Both are great to deal with.

As stated, you want micromesh and/or mylar, not sandpaper.

Give Martin at Woodbin a try, as has been mentioned he is in Ontario and is a great guy to deal with. I purchase 99% of my pen repair supplies from him, which reminds me I am out of #18 sacs. smile.gif

Martins shipping is quick (being in Canada) and he has all the parts which you are looking for. No affiliation, just a happy customer.

Cheers,
Sean

I'll add my recommendation of Woodbin, Tryphon and add Sam or Frank at Pendemonium to the list. /Craig

Thanks all,

I've contacted Woodbin to if he has everything I need (not all on the website). Glad to know there is a source in Canada!

Quick question and an update.

Woodbin did not have everything I wanted, so I ordered through Tryphon. Order on it's way.

Unfortunately, they are out of O rings.

So here is my question. I need to replace a O ring used to seal my Recife Crystal Eyedropper. Where else can I find this in a brick and mortar shop? These rings must be used for other things...

Are they rings I would find at pluming shops? or else?

Thanks

nick
