120291737768 - A rare late 1940s vintage Montegrappa Extra with amazing banded celluloid pattern.

Just wanted to let everyone know.

Darn, I have been bidding on one of those and don't need a huge crowd to over-inflate the price. Oh, well! C'est la vie!

The astounding thing is that this is the second time this pen has been listed by the same seller (who I believe is the OP of this thread although he does not identify himself as the seller)). There was not a single bid on the first auction. I wish I had checked it before the end of the first auction, but I didn't bother, assuming the sale price would be way over my head.

The 1st auction was pulled by the seller before it ended. I was watching closely! ninja.gif

That makes me feel much better.

Hi folks,

Yes, I'm the seller (and also the poster). I had to end the first auction early because I found some inaccurate info and once a bid is made on an item, eBay won't let you go back and edit the description, so I decided to just pull the auction and re-list it with the correct info. The initial auction was only up for a couple of days. I hope that whomever wins it will enjoy it.

Thanks for finally admitting to your connection here, Ed. Thanks even more to mehitabel for pointing out the relations here.
However, I think it's a bit shabby of the OP to just post something here, advertise it, and then pretend as if he had nothing to do with it. This is insincere in my opinion and has been practiced in the past by a member on this forum who was then subsequently banned (for flaming mainly).
This honestly doesn't belong in this forum and should be in market watch.

Hello omasfan,

My apologies if I caused anyone concern or aroused suspicion about my post or my pen for sale. By no means was I trying to be insincere or deceptive in any way. I'm not sure how you came to believe that I was pretending as if I had nothing to do with the posts or *finally admitting to my connection*. My initial post was on the evening of the 7th and my reply of yesterday (the 9th) was 2 days after my initial post. There were no posts (after DrPJM1's on the 7th) until the 9th, when the other posts were made. I don't check this site more than once or twice a day, if that, and when I checked on the 9th and saw the discussion, I posted a response in order to clarify the situation. I didn't want anyone to be misinformed. Upon re-reading my initial post it's obvious that it was not worded as clearly as it could have been and that mistake will not be made again. As for putting it in this forum, it was just because I wanted to let Italian pen fans know about it, that's all. In the future I'll put it in the marketplace. My apologies again.

Ed, I apologize if my words are a bit harsh. I didn't mean it that way. However, if I were to make a post of that sort, I wouldn't say "TWO nice Omas pens on ebay" but probably "I have two nice Omas pens for sale on ebay."
I don't want to accuse you of willfully being deceptive. I just found the wording in your original post a bit ambiguous.
And sorry, but I don't see why someone should automatically come to the conclusion that "ed44" and "edgai" are one and the same person. But it's been clarified and we can now move on. I hope you'll get a good price for these very nice pens! They are worth it.

Hi omasfan,

Point taken, my post was poorly worded and should have been more specific, which they will be in the future. Thanks. biggrin.gif

I really feel for you, I've been watching that auction closely (and at the same time bidding on another one which I too got sniped sad.gif). Better luck next time!

I hope that whoever got it gets to enjoy it fully. I would have loved to have it, but there's always next time...
