Parker 51 set of fountain pen and pencil with black barrels and rolled silver (marked) caps, with custom lines pattern and gold plated clips. These caps are relatively rare. The pens were made in England but I cannot see any date code; (I have been advised that the likely date is 1955-56, thank you). The fountain pen has a fine nib and converter with the instruction to “press 4 times”. The set comes in a mock crocodile case.

Condition: The barrels are shiny with just light surface marks. The rolled silver caps have some pitting and surface scratches, more on the pencil than the pen, but the silver is bright and they look good. The gold plated clips show no brassing and are in very good order, as are the cap jewels. The box has marks to the lining but is otherwise in good condition with good hinges and closes well.
The pen nib looks to have 100% of the iridium and writes smoothly. The coverter works well.
The pencil works well but the eraser is worn down.
