rolleyes.gif I have a much used and loved tortoise and white fountain pen that developed the much 'dreaded cap cracks syndrome'. After completing my across the country move and settling in, I contacted Chartpak and mailed in the cap for an exchange. The service lady wasn't sure if the caps have been improved but DID say no new replacement caps had come back again. Service was rocket fast and very cheerful. Here is what I've noticed about the new cap; the old cap had the rings a few millimeters from the lip of the cap and my cracks went from the edge, under the rings, and out the other side a bit, while the new cap has the rings exactly on the edge of the cap, with no white showing below the rings. My cap collected ink or dirt in the cracks and most definately were cracks and not molding seams. I can only conclude that Pelikan moved the rings this little bit to give better support to the edge of the cap. I post this in this location in the FPN ,because maybe this information will help anyone considering this wonderful and beautiful pen make a decision, and I was afraid it might be missed in the Pelikan forum.

Thanks, I need to find Chartpak's info, and send in mine as well.

rolleyes.gif Their telephone number is 800-628-1910, address, One River Road, Leeds, Ma. 01053. I'd call first but I can't say enough about the speed of their service.

Hello,
My also much-loved white tortoise M400 is also suffering from the 'dreaded cap cracks syndrome'. Any idea how to deal with this in the UK?
Thanks all.

rolleyes.gif No, but I know that I've seen some posts here about Pelikan service on your side of the pond. Chartpak is the group that handles all Pelikan sevice over here. If no one else chimes in here, I'd contact Andy at Andy's Pens or Mr. Twyddle(sp?) at The Fountain Pen Museum. Both are on the web, in the UK, experts, and likely to know who to contact. Both are very nice people and well thought of by other fp addicts!

Thanks! I've had a couple of nibs from the FP Museum, so will try there, and Andy.
We need to find our UK-Chartpak!
