Does Lamy blue-black from the bottle look the same as the blue-black from the cartridge? I borrowed my girlfriend's Safari the other day, and I like the color. I'd like to put it in non-CC pens though, so I'm wondering if the bottled ink looks the same.

Sorry, nevermind. I just read something that contradicts what I wrote. headsmack.gif

Huh?

Lamy Blue-Black from a bottle is different from what comes in a cartridge. The bottle is a beautiful iron gall ink, quite safe for gold nibbed pens and tolerably safe even for steel nibbed pens if you flush every week and use the pen daily. The cartridges, IMHO, lack most of the qualities I like about the real deal. smile.gif

I like both, and somewhat find the iron gall version a little too pale.

But like RevAaron said, they are completely different.

Iron gall inks react with air (oxygen?) and therefore, since cartridges are not 100 airtight, would react before you write. That version is not iron gall.

OK, I guess I was right. I wrote that the bottled version is iron-gall while the cartridge version is not, but then I read a review saying that the cartridge version is indeed iron-gall. wacko.gif

Ah, OK. The two of those are swapped all the time, especially in regards to Mont Blanc, which gets their their Blue-Black ink from Lamy (at least the bottled ferro-gallic stuff- not sure if the carts are the same)- people sometimes think Lamy has ferro-gallic in bottles and regular ink in carts with Mont Blanc being the reverse. Same thing for both- ferro-gallic in bottles, non-ferro-gallic in cartridges.

Anyone with the cartridge MB have a sample to show us? I love the bottled stuff.
