I was looking the website of worldlux when I read the details of the MB writer edition Bernard Shaw. It is said that the pen is platinum plated with green marbled lacquer and the MB logo is MOF. Amazing. It is the first writer edition which its logo is MOP. I would buy this pen definetely. For more details see the link below

http://www.worldlux.com/cgi-bin/navigate.c...%20Edition%20LE

The bad thing is that from now on MB will produce special assecories for each writer edition. For more information see the link below

I'm quite fond of MB writing leather accesorries, so to me that's good news. I'd like to get that A4 conference folio and the medium sized note book cover. If they had a pen case, that would have been nice as well. Maybe next year's.

I do ask myself whether this policy of diversification into so many new product lines is good in the long run. No doubt it may make short run business sense but there is a risk that over time people will associate MB less and less with pen-making, to be yet another "lifestyle" brand. There is only so far one can inflate a name before there has to be a commensurate increase in quality over the staple lines.

I find it somewhat irksome that when MB releases commemorative editions in 2024 that almost all such products would not have seen thirty let alone a hundred years in their catalogue.

Many thanks for the update! I really cannot wait to see the pen in real life.

Are the green parts really lacquer; to me that pen looks like it is made from marbled resin (same as on the Boheme 1901, Dumas, Wilde, ...) and not lacquer which usually is applied in thin strata in liquid form on a certain surface (e.g. the Verne, Cervantes, Nicolai I,... are pens painted with lacquer).

Maybe I'm just misinterpreting the pictures I've seen so far ?!

Just as a side note: I prefer resin, celluloid, acrylic-resin,....(whatever type of plastic) over laquer (with very few exceptions where lacquer looks great) so would be very happy if the green material really is resin and not laquer.

Cheers

Michael

From the discriptions it seems that the new writer edition is laquer

looking at the pictures especially the end it looks like rounds of different color green as painted on not depth as a material.

Oh well as well I do not know until seeing the pen in person and finding out the price whether I would look at it more.

If it's lacquer, I probably won't like it.

I find the green and platinum a very cool combination and look forward to seeing one in person. happyberet.gif

Hi,

I got the Shaw on friday and the star isn't MOP. I don't read the booklet, but I think that green parts are painted with laquer and not marbled resin

I got to try the Ballpoint at "Time to Write", a delightful pen store in the Charlotte airport today (only one of its kind, the manager tells me), and it is a wonderful, wonderful weight. . From what I have read, and heard from pen sellers, this is proving to be an immensely popular series. The little kiosk manager told me she was on her second shipment already.

I read in another post (Rolex Forums) that one person has a seller who discounted him 20% for the Shaw bp. I've written to see what the store name is?? The store is in Houston. So far, of all the sites I have looked at, only Executive Essentials discounts. The Shaw bp was 486.99 (after 10-1 so with the price increase).

I have the Shaw BP as well and the star definitely is not MOP. Why does it still say so in their writing?

You're right---get 'em both! Actually, I prefer the pencils the most. My favorite is the F. Scott pencil. I hate that the pencils only come in the set. I may have to buy the set and sell the pens, but I am sure I won't be able to part with any of it.
