Hello, all.

Can anyone recommend an unlined, hard bound journal offering more than 100 pages? I really dislike lined paper, preferring instead to set my own margins and line spacing according to content and mood. The paper should be durable enough to last forty years. It would be nice if I could write duplex on each page, but it is not absolutely necessary. As for size, 6x8 would be too small; larger dimensions are preferred.

I look forward to your recommendations.

Thank you in advance!

Atlanta Excelent kwart-breedfolio is a really good notebook. I've used them a lot in the past, but now switched to Allan's journals. I can write as much in them but they are much more portable.
Atlanta's are probably only available in the Netherlands, but for P&P I can send one if you are interested.

I nearly chose a journal from Lee Valley for $17, but finally narrowed the selection to these journals from www.wetpaintart.com since I was able to also pick up a few dip pen nibs from the same source:

Hand Book sketch book. 5x8, 128 pp, unlined. $15
Exacompta Basics sketch book. 5x8, 100 pp, unlined. $12

Either choice would be good, but I went with the Exacompta because I had relative certainty that the paper would be FP-friendly. I look forward to journaling with a dip pen!

I'd love to know more about the Atlanta breedfolio. I love unlined notebooks.

Thanks, Zoe

Please report back on the Exacompta basic sketch book. I bought a diary a few weeks ago and was thoroughly disappointed at how poorly it takes fp ink--terrible bleed through and such a beautiful diary.

I like big, unlined journals also. I am currently using Kunst & Papier journals. There is a link in that post to FPN member TarCalion's custom made journals which might be of interest. I'm looking forward to Canteo journals being introduced to the U.S.

Good luck on your quest, and please report back if you find something.

Sorry, but these are faint blue lined!
Still they are excellent smile.gif

Exacompta Basics Sketchbooks were my favorite until they discontinued the big (A4?) size. I posted a review here.

Doug, thanks for pointing out your review. Unfortunately, I've recently had a negative experience with the Exacompta Gulliver and leery of another Exacompta purchase.

Great reviews btw.

Cachet Sketchbook. They can be found in just about any art supply store. I buy the 8.25 X 5.25 ones (Almost an A5). The have 160 pages of beautiful ink friendly paper. I got one last week, I'm in Berkeley, Ca., and it cost about $7.00. If you watch the art supply stores do run a 2 for 1 sale from time to time. Here is a link
